Student Union Handover Ceremony 2025 – Faculty of Political Science and Law

The Faculty of Political Science and Law places great importance on fostering democratic learning through annual student union elections. The handover ceremony represents a vital part of leadership development, responsibility, and organisational management among students. It also provides a platform for voicing student needs to the faculty administration and encourages active participation in enhancing student life and academic quality within the university.

The objective of this project is

1. To promote democratic learning among students through participatory processes.

2. To develop leadership skills and responsibility among student union leaders.

3. To ensure continuity in the operation of the student union in a structured manner

The project began with a democratic election process for the President and executive committee of the Student Union, conducted under the supervision of the Student Affairs Division to ensure transparency and fairness. Preparatory meetings were held between the outgoing and incoming committees to compile reports, ongoing plans, and share administrative experiences. The official handover ceremony was held in the Faculty’s meeting room, with faculty administrators and the Student Affairs Committee in attendance as witnesses. The event featured a summary report of past activities, presentations of plans, and a formal signing of the handover documents. This initiative plays a crucial role in developing leadership skills and providing students with a hands-on understanding of democratic processes.

The project raised students’ awareness of their roles in a democratic system. Student union leaders gained real-world experience in organisational management. A systematic and continuous handover process was established. Faculty administrators received direct feedback and suggestions from students. The project strengthened the relationship between students, faculty, and staff.
