On July 19, 2024, the Faculty of Pharmacy, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Natthan Charernsriwilaiwat, Associate Dean for Administration Affairs, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Nadechanok Jiangseubchatveera, Associate Dean for Planning and Human Resource Development, along with faculty members and support staff, participated in the second consecutive year of the Mangrove Forest Conservation and Restoration Project. This event was held to honor His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua on the occasion of his 72nd birthday on July 28, 2024. The project’s objectives are to raise awareness of mangrove forest conservation and restoration, promote natural resource conservation, foster unity among faculty members, and encourage their participation in social service activities.
The Department of Marine and Coastal Resources Region 2 has prioritized and provided opportunities for the public, government agencies, private sector, educational institutions, and partner networks to participate in the preservation and sustainable use of mangrove forests. Mangrove forests are valuable resources with direct and indirect benefits, contributing significantly to the economy, society, environment, and national security.
Today’s activity involved planting mangrove trees to increase the mangrove area, which serves as an essential breeding ground for marine life. The event received support with over 50 saplings, including Rhizophora, Avicennia, Xylocarpus, and Cerbera trees, aiming to expand the green area of the mangrove forest by more than 56 rai in the mangrove area along the Old Hospital Road behind Sala Ruam Jai Chon, Chonburi Province.
This activity also fosters the involvement of educational institutions and sets a positive example for society, building cooperative power from educational organizations to the public and community. Additionally, it helps to disseminate knowledge and understanding of the importance and benefits of mangrove forest conservation and restoration.
