Workshop Program on the Course: Simple Application Development
Without Coding (No-Code) Using Google AppSheet

In an era where technology is easily accessible through mobile phones or smartphones, learners can access learning resources more quickly, easily, and conveniently. The development of teaching materials must, therefore, be adjusted to align with technological changes, ensuring that educational activities remain up-to-date. Teachers or instructors should be capable of developing applications for managing and organizing teaching activities on mobile devices by themselves, using a simple and straightforward system.

AppSheet is a platform or tool created to assist in developing applications on mobile phones or tablets in a simple way, without the need for programming. Developers do not need to have knowledge or skills in coding, as it uses a technique known as “No-Code,” meaning no coding is required. It can also connect data from various sources, such as Google Sheets, Excel, or Cloud SQL.

The Computer Center recognizes the importance of developing digital skills for teachers, educators, and educational personnel in creating applications without the need for coding (No-Code), which is a current popular trend. Therefore, the center has organized a workshop on the course “No-Code Application Development with Google AppSheet” to provide teachers, educators, and educational personnel with knowledge and understanding of No-Code application development using Google AppSheet. Participants will be able to develop practical applications, apply this knowledge to create innovations, solve work-related issues, and incorporate it into educational activities.

The training will follow an active training model, where participants will have hands-on practice and design and plan their application development. The training will involve the use of Google Sheets, Google Applications, and AppSheet, which are user-friendly software tools that allow for the creation of practical applications.

Objectives

  1. To provide participants with knowledge and understanding of no-code application development using Google AppSheet.
  2. To enable participants to develop no-code applications with Google AppSheet for practical use.
  3. To equip participants with the ability to apply their knowledge in creating innovations or solving operational problems, including organizing educational activities.

On April 25, 2024, the Computer Center of Burapha University organized a University Social Responsibility (USR) academic service project titled “Simple No-Code Application Development with Google AppSheet” for teachers, instructors, and educational personnel. The objective was to impart knowledge and understanding of no-code application development using Google AppSheet, familiarize participants with the steps in designing and developing applications through AppSheet, and empower them to create applications for practical use. Furthermore, participants could apply this knowledge to create innovations or solve work-related problems, including organizing educational activities.

The training session was conducted by Ms. Amornrat Makbodi, Head of Academic Services, and a team of experts from the Computer Center. They guided participants through hands-on exercises in developing a student grading application. Participants from schools and educational institutions in the Eastern region and nearby provinces attended the training. They learned and practised designing and developing applications without coding using AppSheet, potentially using the knowledge to develop applications that support operations or teaching management.
