Exploring the World of Gems 2024
On August 15-16, 2024, the Faculty of Gems, Burapha University, Chanthaburi Campus, organized an academic service project titled “Exploring the World of Gems 2024” at Room P322 and the first floor of the Information Technology Center. The event aimed to produce graduates with knowledge and expertise in the gem and jewelry industry while raising awareness among students and the general public about the importance of this sector. It also sought to promote the development of local personnel with academically sound knowledge and skills to enhance their competitiveness at both national and international levels. The primary goal of the project was to provide foundational knowledge about gem analysis and assess the participants’ understanding. Additionally, it disseminated theoretical and practical knowledge that could be applied in daily life and serve as a foundation for income generation. The event also served as an opportunity to promote the Faculty of Gems’ curriculum, as well as short-term training courses and other academic service projects. A total of 151 participants from six schools in the eastern region attended the event, including students from Kaeng Hang Maew Pittayakarn School, Pluak Daeng Pittayakom School, Mathayom Wat Kwho Sukim School, Laem Sing Wittayakhom School, Rayongwittayakom School, and Klaeng “Wittayasathaworn” School.
This project played a crucial role in promoting sustainable social and economic development by focusing on transferring gem analysis knowledge and skills to the participants. This expertise not only helps individuals generate additional income and develop personally but also fosters economic growth within families and communities. Developing skilled human resources in the eastern region, which is a hub for the gem industry, will enhance the area’s potential and opportunities for long-term local development.
