Capacity development on content and material development for the Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood Education Programme in Lao PDR
The project “Capacity development on content and material development for the Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood Education Programme in Lao PDR” is a result of the assessment conducted during the mid-term evaluation of the Early Childhood Education curriculum program at four teacher training colleges in Laos. There are Dongkhamxang, Luangnamtha, Salavan and Savannakhet teacher training colleges. As the college aims to develop subject content, teaching materials, and learning resources that can enhance the effectiveness of instruction within the curriculum, UNESCO Bangkok Office, in its role as a supporter of educational management in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, collaborated with the Faculty of Education at Burapha University to undertake a project that addresses
the aforementioned needs. The project was carried out from April to July 2022.
This project aimed:
1.To enhance capacities of teacher educators in effectively developing contents and teaching-learning materials for the identified subjects/topics for the Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood Education (B.Ed. in ECE) programme and in localizing the internationally available resources for the Lao context, and
2.To produce course contents including learning content and teaching-learning materials for the identified subjects/topics in the B.Ed. in ECE programme.
This project has led to the organization of training sessions for faculty members from the four teacher training colleges in two phases. In this initiative, educators from the Faculty of Education at Burapha University, specializing in Early Childhood Education, engaged in knowledge exchange with educators from the aforementioned four teacher training colleges in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic. This exchange facilitated the sharing of subject-specific expertise in early childhood education, instructional management methods, teaching techniques, and course content.
