Research Development for SDGs

Continuing its professional development program, Burapha University International College (BUUIC) organized a hybrid seminar called “Research Development on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)”. The seminar was held on 23 May 2023. Associate Professor Witawat Jangiam, Dean of Graduate School, Assistant Professor Marut Tangwattanachuleeporn Dean of Allied Health Sciences, and Ms. Chabaporn Martman were the three guest speakers that led the webinar.

Assistant Professor Parinya Nakpathom, Dean of BUUIC, Assistant Professor Krittipat Pitchayadejanant, Associate Dean of Administration and Organization Development, and Assistant Professor Siwaporn Kunnapapdeelert, Assistant Dean for Research and Graduate Studies, hosted the event. Faculty members, students from various Burapha University departments, and other guests joined the live webinar. Associate Professor Witawat Jangiam, Dean of Graduate School, spoke during the first session. He explained how universities facilitate social, environmental, and economic development. He also highlighted how the SDGs are grouped into three broad areas: well-being, the environment, and the economy. Moreover, he explained how universities play a central role in all three groups. Assistant Professor Marut Tangwattanachuleeporn, Dean of Allied Health Sciences, spoke at the second session. He discussed the most sustainable university under the brand new ranking of institutions based on their environmental and social impact. He also explained in detail how THE World University Rankings, especially “Sustainability 2023”, have been devised to demonstrate which universities are leading the way to tackle the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) challenges facing the world today. He was certain that Burapha University would have excellent prospects of improving its rank in some of the key SDG areas because of the quality of infrastructure and the academic teams leading different university departments.

Ms. Chabaporn Martman, who is the head of internal audits at Burapha University, led the afternoon session. She discussed an interesting topic called “Principles governing the appropriate use of research funds”. She highlighted the importance of preparing proper research proposals and maintaining evidence of project income and expenses.
