World Ocean Day 2024
The United Nations has designated June 8th of each year as World Ocean Day to raise awareness of the significance of the seas and oceans, encouraging everyone to care for and protect these vital resources. In alignment with this global initiative, the Faculty of Marine Technology organized an event inviting students, staff, and the public to participate in a kayaking activity to collect floating debris in Khlong Rampan. This canal flows into the sea at the mouth of the Khaem Noo River, Chanthaburi Province.
The objectives of the activity were:
1. To raise awareness of the World Ocean Day.
2. To engage students, staff, and interested participants in conserving the marine environment.
Participants included 13 faculty members and students from the Faculty of Marine Technology, 3 professors from the Faculty of Gemology, and 6 parents and students from Bansuan Deijin Homeschool. Together, they united to collect floating trash and debris trapped among the mangrove roots along the 6-kilometer Kayak Route, demonstrating their commitment to conserving the marine environment.
