BUUIC Hosts Local Community Enterprise Camp
for NUS Students to Promote Sustainable Development and Community Empowerment

From July 7 to July 12, 2024, Burapha University International College (BUUIC) and the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences (AHS) hosted a Local Community Enterprise Camp for students from the National University of Singapore (NUS). This initiative aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 1,10,12,17.
The camp, held in Chonburi and Chachoengsao provinces, provided NUS students with hands-on experience in managing local community enterprises. The program focused on enhancing the quality of life and promoting sustainability in these regions, reflecting a commitment to SDG 1: No Poverty and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, by supporting community-driven initiatives that address local needs and foster economic development.
The camp served as the launchpad for a two-year project designed to study and implement strategies for sustainable community enterprise development. This project aims to empower local communities by integrating sustainable practices and fostering local entrepreneurship, thereby contributing to SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production.
Through this collaboration, BUUIC and AHS facilitated meaningful cross-border partnerships and knowledge exchange, supporting SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. By involving NUS students in real-world community development projects, the camp not only enriched their educational experience but also promoted global citizenship and a shared commitment to sustainable development.
Overall, the Local Community Enterprise Camp exemplifies how educational institutions can drive positive social and environmental change by engaging students in projects that enhance community well-being and promote sustainable practices.
